I’m looking for someone that eats, drinks, and sleeps numbers and loves business. This is your thing.

You might be called an analyst, statistician, business intelligence analyst, financial analyst, or economist. Ultimately, you use numbers to drive results.

You’ll watch our stats (we have more than you can imagine); decide which ones matter; spot trends; propose, implement, and measure strategies to increase revenue; and improve margins. You’ll tell us things about our users that we didn’t know.

You’re going to be working with high-level algorithms and equations. You will not just be a “numbers cruncher.” You will be working with a sophisticated economic model.

Our data currently comes mostly from our own databases and raw usage logs. You’ll be able to look at these sources, suggest things we might be missing, and make sense of it all. We want our users’ behavior to drive our priorities and tell us if we’re on the right track.

Finding answers to questions like, “What’s the average time spent on the site for users that signed up 6 months ago vs. 1 year ago?” or “How many times does a user have to see a prompt before taking action; and which prompts work the best?” or “Long term, is it better to charge all-you-can-eat or with micro-transactions?” will be fun for you and valuable for all us. We’ll use these answers to make decisions that will have a significant impact on our business.

Once we've defined the goals and the stats have given you a direction, you'll work with designers to create your vision of how to get us there. Then, you'll work with Engineering to bring your product to life and continually fine tune it to meet the business objectives.

You've either done this job before, or used similar skills to make an impact on some kind of project. You have a strong background in math, computer science, cognitive science, or related and have a degree to show it. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Besides having great visual taste and talent, you must code well-structured HTML/CSS. Basic Javascript is a plus, but not required. In short, you MUST be able to build what you design.

The Role: Network Systems Administrator
Our company is currently hiring a Network Systems Administrator to join our team in San Diego. In this role you will perform system administrator functions for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and various Linux distributions. As the systems administrator you will be in charge of supporting the Network, System, and security of our products and environments. This includes web and back-end servers, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and SAN/NAS systems. The system administrator will also be responsible for modeling and implementing Disaster Recovery Plans.

Our production environment is co-located. This facility houses the equipment that holds our user databases, website, as well as all of our messaging applications. MAINTAINING ACCEPTABLE UPTIME OF THE PRODUCTION SERVERS IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL TO THE SUCCESS OF OUR COMPANY AND WILL BE THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTY OF THIS POSITION. These servers must be online 24/7, requiring night and weekend monitoring maintenance.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Network Security implementation and Maintenance
• Resolving Hardware/ Software Challenges
• Email Administration
• Equipment Acquisition
• System Expansion and Architecture
• Backups and Disaster Recovery plans
• Alerting/Monitoring framework

Candidates Should Possess:
• Experience Required: Windows & Linux Operating Systems, Active Directory, Exchange, MS Office, Symantec, Nagios, network equipment, Cisco, Foundry, storage systems (SAN, DAS, NAS), and excellent troubleshooting skills
• Experience Recommended, But Not Required: VoIP, Asterisk, Sharepoint, IIS, scripting, Postfix, Foundry, Juniper, CCNP, Samba, working for a web-based company.
• Minimum Years of Experience: 1-3 years (in IT, NOT in Helpdesk)
