Part-time IT Associate at Renewable Energy Startup in New York

Position Location: New York City, NY, USA

UGE is a fast growing company with an increasing need for an IT expert to manage technology at the company level. From programming tasks to procurement of IT solutions, this position’s responsibilities will be widespread and will require a candidate who is ready to learn, assertive, and comfortable working across various departments.

The full list of tasks for this position is listed below. Experience with all of these fields will be valuable, although on-the-job learning for specific skills is certainly possible. This position will require a commitment of approximately 4 hours per day, 3 days per week.

The IT Manager will be responsible for managing the below tasks and others, both directly and indirectly:

Hardware/Procurement:

- Improve Internet accessibility throughout the office.
- Monitor and maintain our VoIP capabilities.
- Work with various teams to qualify and source computers and other hardware.

Onboarding/Maintenance:

- Create accounts on various systems for new employees to have access to (e-mail, server, file sharing, etc.)
- Manage website accounts for employees and Partners and create process for adding active Partners to map

Standardize and develop various platforms:

- Widen our use of Netsuite for financing, reporting, and customer management
- Organize and standardize our file server, including implementing stronger security protocols.

Web Development:

- Support our Virtual Private Server
- Advise and work with marketing team on basic web development, SEO, modules for site, layouts, css, javascript, etc.
- Basic maintenance to our Drupal website

Personally, or through programming consultants:

- Make significant updates to the UGE website, under the guidance of the marketing team
- Maintain and improve various custom PHP scripts used by UGE
- Integrate various APIs through our website and independently (Google Docs, Customer Management, Finance Management)
- Create online store for UGE merchandise
- Updating our Drupal website to a newer version

Job Description:
Focus on building awareness and securing high profile placements within the worldwide cleantech energy community and other related industries, through engagement with media, business owners, and industry influencers. The Communications Associate will also assist in the representation and management of UGE’s brand through online social interaction, as well as assist in incoming and outgoing company communications. Responsibilities include:
· Trace real estate Industry influencers and develop an approach strategy for building strong relationships
· Research & creation of press releases
· Media outreach, pitching and editorial story inquiries
· Creating content for online marketing campaigns, including content for UGE blog
· List management and maintain steady communications with Journalists
· Compiling, tracking, and monitoring press coverage
· Assist with strategy to strengthen UGE corporate communications, and research through the social media landscape to support brand, recruitment, and sales efforts
· Assist with the creation of content for social media channels to ensure correct messaging and focus
· Research and enter relevant awards and competitions
· Liaise with publications regarding incoming requests for media placements

Job requirements:
· Bachelors Degree; Marketing, Public Relations or Communications major preferred
· Minimum of 1+ years experience in interacting with service-oriented professionals to maximize PR exposure
· Knowledge and familiarity of leading social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including business communications, media-related writing, and writing for web and social media platforms
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
· The qualified candidate will be detail oriented, extremely professional, and customer service oriented
· Knowledge of the cleantech industry or a similar field is very important, or a willingness and interest to rapidly learn the industry
· Experience using Vertical Response would be extremely beneficial
· Experience with graphic design a plus
