Factor Tree is an e-Learning site that teaches kids preK - 6th grade math online. We are a consumer end product, which uses a customized curriculum to teach each individual child the way he/she learns best. We are growing rapidly in all the major markets--people love us!

We are looking for a talented, jack-of-all trades designer to head up our design team. Whether it be new creative ideas, website design changes, or a new brochure, we'd look to you as the project lead. You will be working with talented developers as well as child development experts to help you design an intuitive platform for parents and kids alike.

Keep in mind this is a senior position, as we will be building a team around you and you'd be responsible for interviewing new talent to work with you.

Our offices are on 5th Avenue in Midtown New York City. Working remotely is not an option, so you must be willing to commute or relocate.

There's a huge problem with the way kids in the US learn math: lack of basic arithmetic fundamentals. We address this problem with our adaptive curriculum-- the better a child is the faster he progresses, if the student is weak in certain areas he gets scaffolding problems to build understanding.

Several schools, foundations, and private consumers are already using our proprietary technology and they agree: what we have works. This is your chance to "do good by doing good"-- get competitive compensation, cash + equity, and make a real difference in the world. Also, here's the rare opportunity to get mentored by our CTO, whose been doing this for over 30 years, stays current, and is a speaker at several tech conferences across America.

Like everybody else we're looking for talented engineers, our app is in Java, we use a mySQL database, and Javascript on the front end. Bonus points if you're UX oriented and have a keen eye for cool design and are obsessed with providing users with great experiences. It's also great if you hopped on the iOS SDK early and are a guru at objective C. You gotta be laid back though, after all, most of the times you'll need to see problems from a child's perspective.
