How to not be a n00b when finding the right technical cofounder. By, Said N00b… in Chicago

Step 1: Don’t assume you’re the first person to approach a ‘code guy’ with a good idea
Step 2: Don’t be a douchebag referring to your potential partner as a ‘code guy’
Step 3: Find someone you can
A.	Talk to
B.	Get along with
C.	Get drunk with
Step 4: Make sure they are as passionate and interested in the idea as you are. It’s like dating, except you’re still not getting laid
Step 5: Be Honest.

So, hopefully I’m not that n00b.

I’m Josh, 25, went to University of Chicago and am living in Chicago still.
Being a strategy consultant for tech companies is what keeps food in the fridge. I have project managed software development with large firms, and researched new products and markets for others.
But Social Networks inspire me.

1.	The Idea:
Weddings ($62 billion industry) are celebrated by people in their 20’s, people who’ve grown up with social networking… AIM, Facebook, and all in between. Here is what we’re going to build:

-	A social network experience that follows the wedding process (from engagement to the day of) that is unique to each bride.
-	A new take on Yelp, Groupon, others – but focused around the wedding process
-	Weddings are a bitch to plan (trust me, I’ve talked to 40 brides in the last 2 months, it’s been exhausting) so we’re going to automate the planning process in a clean and simple way to become the ultimate (and only intelligent)wedding planning tool
-	Much more which has been phased out and visually diagramed, but only a n00b would list off everything

2.	Potential partner:
I’m looking for someone who is intrigued by the above and is still reading. What’s new that you think is great? I’m living on turntable.fm and wondering if klout is ever going to be important, do you care about this stuff? Do you know that you’re good at what you do, but always want to learn more and be better? Are you ready to build something innovative? Are you fucking great at creating code!!... because im not

3.	Getting Along:
I’m chill, we’ll probably get along.

4.	Who am I:
I’m 25 and have been working for 11 years (strategy consulting, wall street monkey, sales)and I bust my ass for the things I’m passionate about. If you are also intelligent, inspired, and motivated to create something revolutionary (and make a fuckton of money) send me a message and we’ll talk

5.	I ALREADY HAVE INROADS TO FUNDING!
I’m not in this alone, I have 3 advisors who are incredible and have opened doors to financially getting this off the ground.
-	President of a NYC branding and communications company (Published author, MBA, Awesome Guy)
-	Head of PR for IKEA in North America (Puppet master of communicating to women with decades of experience)
-	Human Incubator (An Old professor, he got a 17 yearr old girl 2 million dollars –it’s what he does) and he thinks this is a fantastic idea

I’ve conducted polls of our demographic, phased out the feature set, been creating the business plan, contacted development and design firms , and other necessities. The concept is waiting for your input, your feedback, your expertise.

WeClickd.com
Josh Liss
jaliss@weclickd.com

View full job description | View company profile
