mycirQle is a news curation outlet covering the health, energy, and education sectors. We find the most important news in each sector and deliver it to a knowledgeable, largely professional audience on a personalizable social news platform.

Part-time
Stipend
Location: NYC or Bay Area, CA ideal, Remote OK

About you:
Do you have a sharp eye for a good story? Are you an education news nut with deep knowledge of education spanning from policy to technology and K-12 to Higher Ed? Do you have experience writing and editing in a fast-paced online news environment? Have you always wanted to work at a start-up?

We are a small team (2 founders and a handful of staff) and we are growing rapidly. Our ideal candidate is as passionate about education as they are the future of digital journalism. We seek an innovator who can think strategically about news coverage, content delivery, and how to nurture an audience on the social web. This is your chance to join a fast-moving, funded, growth-phase start-up and leave your mark.

The ideal candidate can identify the most important education news on a daily basis, write roundups and analysis pieces, edit freelance perspectives, and represent mycirQle as social media thought leader. A deep knowledge of the issues is a must. Experience covering or working in the field, knowledge of online publishing tools, and familiarity with social media are pluses.

Impact:
This position is for entrepreneurs looking to revolutionize the journalism industry. Your objective? To bring relevant, curated education news to professionals working in the field. Your weapon of choice? Technology. Sound idealistic? Perhaps. But our initial results speak for themselves (sky-rocketing adoption among early users and strong retention) and what we are hiring you for is to grow the concept to the next level.

About us:
Sandeep Ayyappan is a Yale alum with experience analyzing and packaging news for a professional audience as an Energy Tech Equity Research analyst at RBC Capital Markets. Andrew Whalen is a UPenn alum and former Associated Press correspondent in Latin America.
The position is initially part-time with a paid stipend. It will grow with the company into a full-time paid position with benefits.

In your cover letter, please address the following:
* What are some of your favorite non-traditional journalism sites? Why?
* Why do you want to work for mycirQle? What interests you about our approach to journalism?
* Write a 2-3 sentence pitch about yourself. Why would you make a good editor at mycirQle?
* Please include your Twitter handle, LinkedIn URL, and a link to your website/blog (if available)

View full job description | View company profile
