Livestream - Rails Developer in New York

We (Livestream's product team) are building the next generation live event coverage and social network platform over web and mobile. Our team launched the New Livestream in beta last month - check it out at at http://new.livestream.com. We are looking for new team members to help us build and launch this new product in 2012. The stack is: Redis, Node.js, Ruby on Rails Web Site (built on top of REST APIs), Finagle on Scala for notification and other advanced services, Objective-C iOS apps.

Be an early member in a growing team of talented engineers. As a senior rails developer, you'll work on the new Livestream website, and touch all things from product building to deployment strategies to scalability challenges. We believe in engineers that can re-apply their mind to different areas, and as such you'll get a chance to jump in and out of the multiple layers that make up the Livestream stack.

As the engineering team in NYC grows, you'll be able to help further construct a great engineering environment. We believe in using up-to-date tools and practices to remove as much friction as possible and stay flexible and lean.

We are NYC based with more than 50 staff members here, including the product and engineering leadership team. Livestream is based in 111 8th Avenue (on the L - 8th avenue) but there's a good chance that the engineering and product team will move to an awesome new office in Williamsburg in early 2012.

We've recently made a foray into the SCALA landscape with some of our back-end services. We've been enjoying the power and flexibility it gives us as a programming language. As our lead developer on that project, you'd be in charge of growing that codebase and architecting it into a significant part of the stack, all the while being able to make independent decisions.
