We are seeking a CTO/Co-Founder to architect and guide the execution of a consumer-facing web-based application. The project has the potential to transform the way people interact with content on the web, specifically semi-produced and user-generated content. We believe that simple ideas and elegant, empathetic design can empower and delight people. Success for us is not just a highly useful and emotionally compelling application—it is a sustainable and lucrative business. No Web 2.0 fantasies here.

The current team consists of two non-technical founders who currently work for technology companies and interface with developers and programmers.

What we're looking for is someone with considerable technical expertise who can make high-level strategic decisions about use of platforms, languages, technologies. Broad-based product development experience and the judgment to make thoughtful decisions that balance user experience, cost, and implementation challenges. An interest or knowledge of semantic web and interpretative databases will be especially helpful. In terms of specific technical skills, knowledge of Java, MySQL, AJAX, Rails, Python, PHP, and DHTML are crucial, as we expect that the CTO will be able to make a substantive contribution to the development process beyond simply managing it. An understanding of current and forthcoming technologies around browser add-ons (Firefox and IE) and Facebook widgets will come in very handy.
