Engineering Intern in Santa Monica

Our company is still in stealth (though not for much longer), so we can’t say too much... yet. What we can say is that this startup is eager to facilitate offline community-building and is strongly aligned with the "collaborative consumption" movement. POSITION
We're looking for a crack-shot hacker with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our young internet startup. So, if you live to code and build awesome products, you dig brainstorming and problem-solving, you’re eager to work at a progressive and mission-focused company, and you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and working hard, this internship may afford you with an amazing experience and entrée into the world of tech startups and social entrepreneurship.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You will work closely with the co-founder/CTO (who has 10+ years experience in web development and gaming) and some others to develop a great web-based product in Ruby on Rails. You will build new features and expand the capabilities of the alpha site; assist with quality assurance by manual testing, writing automated tests, and debugging code; handle some administration of databases and servers; etc.

LOCATION
A decent amount of the work may be completed via telecommuting (from home, school, etc.), but some projects and meetings will require presence at the company's office in downtown Santa Monica.

DURATION
We are looking for someone to begin ASAP, and we strongly desire someone who is able to devote 15-20 hours per week and make a three-month commitment.

POSITION
We’re looking for some folks who love to meet new people and couldn’t tell a lie even for a million bucks to fill the role of Community Ambassador. We want genuine people who radiate sincerity. That’s right, this is a tech startup looking to make a positive social impact in communities, so we want good people who can represent us well when chatting with small business owners, nonprofit managers, etc. In addition to sincerity, this job just requires energy, persistence, and some comfort with meeting new people and explaining things. (There’s nothing to sell, per se, but there are some non-financial goals.)

LOCATION
Most work will be done out in the community on the fly. That is, there’s very little office work. However, some task and meetings will require presence at the company's office in downtown Santa Monica.

DURATION/COMMITMENT
We’re looking to hire two independent contractors to begin a two-week trial period ASAP, and commit about 10-15 hours each week. This is temp-to-perm; after this two-week period, this could turn into something more.

REQUIREMENTS
- You must be friendly, personable, and honest. (We covered that already, but it’s worth mentioning again, don’t you think?)
- You must own a computer and an iPhone or Android phone.
- You must be comfortable using computers and the internet.
- You must have a car, license, registration and insurance.
