Senior Rails Developer Wanted for NYC Accelerator Startup in New York

Looking for senior Rails Developer for NYC Accelerator Startup:

Job Description

The Role

You will be joining an enthusiastic team of dedicated developers at the top of their game as a senior developer. Our start-up was recently selected by DreamIt/Comcast Ventures, so the position would be based in New York City this summer as we focus on delivering a finished product. We're a very flexible team with an open and fun atmosphere. You would have final authority on coding decisions, technology choices and given the authority to hire junior developers.

Technology We Use

We're primarily a Ruby on Rails shop but believe in the best tool for the job. Our codebase includes Coffeescript/Javascript, Ruby, Perl and Python code and we are open to experimentation with other new technologies, frameworks and languages. We currently host on Debian based servers (with Thin + NGinx), and almost exclusively use MySQL. Again, we're open to other tech, if it's justified. We use Capistrano for deployment and Github for development, of course. Here's a more complete list:

1. Linux, Debian, Ubuntu Server
2. MySQL, Redis
3. Github, Vim, Ruby, Rails 3.2
4. Devise, Capistrano, Active Admin
5. Zurb Foundation, Bootstrap, Backbone.js
6. Geocommons Geocoder, geocoder, MaxMind's GeoIP
7. Haml, Sass, Coffeescript

We are very enthusiastic about OSS and believe in giving back to the community. We contribute to open source projects!

Skills and Requirements

About You

You care about software, you have a passion for what you do which you can clearly convey by your actions rather than just waffly personal statements on your CV. For you it’s more than a job.

At CampGurus we believe that coding is an art as much as a science. There are a million people with guitars who can play other people's music, and a precious few who can actually write it. In much the same way, there are many programmers who can write unimaginative boilerplate code. We're looking for the rare innovator, the original thinker who can solve problems in new and inventive ways.

Joel Test Score

10/12

View full job description | View company profile
