Marketing Intern (Administrative) in San Francisco

Small self-funded SOMA startup seeks a detail-oriented self-starter to help expand our marketing and administrative reach this summer. We're a small consulting, training and product shop with a heavy investment in open source technologies and communities. You'll be working with open source software veterans both on the development side, and on the administrative and marketing side.

This role is ideal for someone with administrative experience looking to break into either the marketing, events or technology fields. We intend to spend lots of time teaching and mentoring, but definitely have hard deadlines to make as well. We're running a number of conferences and events, helping manage the community efforts for a number of OSS projects, and oh yeah, we also run a profitable business on the side ;)

We're hoping to work this role around the right candidate and what he or she is more interested in learning. That said, if you've got experience and are just looking for a breath of fresh air, we're happy to consider you as well.

Position is intended to be a summer internship on a contract basis. We're picturing at least eight weeks, but would almost certainly extend that if we found the right person for our team. We've got some flexibility as well, with regard to start and end dates. We're aiming to have someone in the office for 32 hours a week, Monday through Thursday, but that too can be flexible.
