About Counsyl Engineering

Over the last few years, we've grown from a dorm room start to become one of the largest clinical genome centers in the world. Our pre-pregnancy genomic test is now prescribed by physicians for more than 2% of all births in the United States.

As you might imagine, handling this kind of volume puts us in terra incognita. Our situation is similar to the one faced by Amazon in the 90s, before anyone knew how to scale an operation with such highly interconnected physical and informational components. As an Operations Engineer you'll be building and deploying the hardware and software systems that support secure, large-scale computations on genomic datasets.

To solve the problems associated with scaling the medical genome, we hire generalists rather than specialists. Our engineers are pragmatists who know when to use machine learning and when to use a simple regex, and understand in what sense those approaches are at different ends of a continuum. Many did not have a bioinformatics background before they joined, but all had strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.

Experience in general means little to us as genomics is a young field; working code means quite a lot more. If this sounds like your kind of company, we invite you to apply.

We handle human resources, recruitment, coordinating and improving internal operations, facilities, and everything else that the keeps the gears of our company turning and making our employees happy campers.

Counsyl’s PeopleOps team is looking for an Office Manager who is organizationally-gifted, has a warm personality and a can-do attitude. Clinical Accounts Executive in South San Francisco

It is our Clinical Accounts group who is most directly responsible for bringing our technological advances to physicians. We are a mix of fresh college grads, Stanford engineers, and President's-Club-winning vets. And we are passionate about solving the practical last mile problems needed to actually attain the clinical dividend promised by society's multibillion dollar investment in the Human Genome Project.

Our folks phone, email, drive, fly, and knock on doors to get the word out to physicians, to tell them that there is now a better way of doing carrier testing. We're not your traditional sales force: we roll up our sleeves and do whatever it takes to make clinical genomics a reality, from setting up routers at tiny private practices to negotiating complex EMR integrations at massive academic medical centers.
