Tools Developer in UK

Our business thrives if we make entertaining virtual worlds for young people, but our game designers and creatives think that writing AS3 and Java is hard - and they're right. Your job is to build the tools that other developers will use to create entertaining virtual worlds.

At the centre of this tool kit is our GAML (Game Application Markup Language); the language we've created for the purpose of simplifying the creation of virtual worlds, quests, and games. An example GAML snippet is attached below.

We call this bottom up programming - we're changing the language to suit the problem. As we're writing a program we may think "I wish GAML had such-and-such an operator." So you go and write it. Afterward you realize that using the new operator would simplify the design of another part of the program, and so on. Language and program evolve together. And when language and program fit one another well, you end up with code which is clear, small, and efficient.

View full job description | View company profile

Flex Application Developer in UK

Pushing, pulling and tearing Flex to build user interfaces for virtual worlds, in pixel perfect detail, that don't look anything like the basic 'cookie cutter' user interface made in Flex.

In Detail
Dubit create virtual worlds in Flex and AS3 for customers like Cartoon Network and Real Madrid. We have created a multiuser server that scales to support over 40,000 concurrent users, a scripting language that we call GAML (Game Application Markup Language), and the coarse grained interface components (such as contact lists) that are standard to all virtual worlds. We roll these technologies into one package that we call the Dubit Platform.

Your job is to build the user interface from the Photoshop designs. You'll be working in Flex taking the photoshop design and skinning the existing coarse grained components or developing new re-usable components that will be rolled into the Dubit Platform.

The ability to spot when a component is not a pixel perfect match to the template design is crucial.

Examples of virtual worlds that we have created and the richness of interfaces you would be skinning are included.

View full job description | View company profile
