Senior Frontend Engineer in New York

Makeably is a new way for people with creative ideas to collaborate with makers to create custom items. As it’s become easier to buy things from anywhere in the world, It’s become even harder to find that exact thing you want, that perfect gift, something truly unique and, more importantly, specific to you. We founded Makeably because we believe in making it easy for you to turn your thoughtful and original ideas into reality, with a little help from our hand-picked community of makers. We've been featured on TechCrunch, The Atlantic, Trendwatching and more.

Makeably was started by Ryan Hayward and Anastasia Leng, friends who met during their senior year at Penn when both had decided to go work at Google’s headquarters in California. After several years in marketing and business & product development, with each spending years in New York, London, and Tokyo, they felt compelled to use what they’d learned about the web to make the ‘real’ world a more thoughtful and creative place.

The vision for Makeably came from a merger of ideas that Anastasia and Ryan had independently been working on. During the holidays last year, Ryan wanted to give a piece of custom art to a friend. Scouring the web, he couldn’t find a single place that really focused on custom work. It was very difficult to find quality people who could do custom and even when you did, the process was not ideal for the buyer or for the maker. So he got to work on fixing that. Anastasia independently witnessed lots of her friends getting married and kept seeing first hand how frustrating it was for them not to be able to find those unique pieces for their big day that they’d dreamed of since they were little, and she’d been brainstorming a startup focused on custom work for weddings. When they came together, Makeably was born.

Now we're looking for a couple awesome developers to not just code, but to set the direction for what Makeably will become.

View full job description | View company profile
