Dev needed: help small business america by bringing scale to their world in San Francisco

Let me first introduce myself and my partner in crime - my name is Rohit Prakash and I am an MD/PhD student here at Stanford working on neural networks and how neural circuitry leads to behavior (deisseroth lab - optogenetics). My friend and partner, Nipul Patel, has worked in an alternative consulting company, Corporate Executive Board, with Fortune 500 CEOs for the past six years.

During this time, we have been working on a start-up looking to improve local communities by helping businesses acquire and keep new customers. We have been beta-testing a couple of ideas in the form of a fully usable web and mobile product (www.getfomo.com and FOMO! on the app store) all the way to a pilot that currently involves some excellent businesses in San Francisco (Mission Cheese, Ritual Roasters etc). The concept in the pilot that we are putting forward is going well, and is what we are pushing forward on. Just to give you some scope - small businesses that form the back bone of this country are suffering - and we must fix it!

Although I cannot disclose the exact idea to you here, suffice it to say that the problem and solution are extremely interesting. They involve networks, local consumption, game theory, seam-less hci via mobile and web among other things. And based on our pilots, we truly believe that our concept is viable and likely to do well (you will have to hear us out to see for yourself, of course!). We are looking for top notch developers to help us spear head this project with a variety of skills to implement and digest issues involving both front and back end development. Currently, we are a team composed of Stanford trained UX designers, applied mathematicians, devs, neuroscientist and others.

View full job description | View company profile
