PT / Freelance Back End Web Developer (eCommerce) in NY

NOTE: Individuals only, agencies/firms please do not apply. This is not an entry level position, 5+ years experience with web application development is required.

FarmersWeb is a New York based eCommerce platform that connects local farmers and producers with local wholesale buyers. Our custom online platform enables greater and more efficient access to local farm fresh products for local chefs, buyers, schools, country clubs, institutional kitchens, retail stores, and more. The goal of FarmersWeb is to increase market access and efficiency for both farms and buyers, which in turn will enable more local food to reach the end customer.

FarmersWeb is currently seeking a part time / freelance Back End Developer. Potential candidates will be responsible for bug fixes, new feature implementation, and general back end development modifications to a functional/live custom eCommerce shopping cart solution. This position reports directly to the CTO.

You will be working within a custom PHP/MySQL MVC framework. A working knowledge of MVC concepts, object oriented programming best practices, and common design patterns is essential. Beyond bug fixes and feature implementations, refactoring of the existing code base will be a continuous effort. Experience with and understanding of the software development life cycle and agile concepts, processes, and practices is ideal. Experience working in eCommerce and with eCommerce solutions is preferred.

This position will initially require between 10 and 20 hours a week, though hours may vary considerably from week to week. We are looking for someone with EST day time availability, not full time employees moonlighting as freelancers. An NYC local is preferred with the ability to work out of a shared work space in Williamsburg, though remote work within the United States will be considered.

Please respond with the ALL of the following:

1) Resume/Website
2) Hourly rate
3) Location
4) Availability: how many hours/week, what hours each day (do you have other employment)?
5) Retainer/Minimum requirements (if any)

Applications without the above will be ignored.

View full job description | View company profile
