Scribnia is a web 2.0 startup that enhances the experience of reading online. Users rate online bloggers and columnists on Scribnia, and our recommendation algorithm then helps users find new online authors they will enjoy. We put an innovative twist on the rating process by using "Context Ratings," which are metrics specific to each author's subject matter.

We have received seed funding and will be spending the summer at DreamIt Ventures, an accelerator program located in Philadelphia, PA. Being part of the DreamIt program will give the person we hire some compelling opportunities. We will be working in a collaborative workspace with ten other highly-regarded startups. Several times a week we will be participating in dinners where technology and entrepreneurship experts will be presenting. And we will be receiving direct guidance from top-notch VCs. This will be a highly useful experience for anyone interested in learning more about web 2.0 entrepreneurship and setting up a network in the industry.

As a web developer for Scribnia you will be given a broad range of responsibilities and will have a direct impact on the product. We are a small team, so we are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial and comfortable working on his/her own. The summer developer will work with us from late May through late August. You will be expected to architect and implement features using PHP and MySQL for the backend and XHTML/CSS and Javascript on the frontend. Ideal candidates will have significant experience working for other startups and/or on their own projects. We're looking for people who keep up to date on the latest web technologies and trends.
