WHO YOU ARE
- You can write HTML & CSS in your sleep.
- You can talk to your parents in JavaScript and you know that Scriptaculous is not an expletive.
- You wish that all information came naturally stored in a relational database or at least marked up in XML, so you could just hack up a Python (or Perl or shell etc) script to access & process it.
- You're obsessed with optimized and cross-browser code.
- You pride yourself on producing bug-free code (well, almost!)

WHO WE ARE
We're solving a fantastically interesting problem and you'll get a chance to fundamentally affect the product and see it from start to finish. We want to help people make their lives & experiences more exciting and efficient. Team members will challenge you to be the best you can (meritocracy all the way!). Alpha release is slated for the end of summer.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You will be literally one of the first team members with all of the benefits of getting early equity and making a significant impact. You'll have very flexible work schedule and a choice of working remotely or in office, but with regular (once or twice a week) meetings and continuous IM collaboration. Working closely with a product manager, build a consumer-facing web application from architecture to launch; create slick AJAX interfaces to present complex information and controls; fix post-launch disasters, scale up, introduce new features. You'll also create internal reporting tools around web analytics. Expect to follow agile development principles: quick iterations, test-driven development, prototyping and re-factoring. Equity-only compensation currently.

TO DO THIS WELL YOU'LL NEED
- 2+ years experience designing, developing, and supporting scalable web sites & apps, preferably in a startup environment
- Proficiency in PHP (preferred), Python or Ruby
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- An ability to work independently and do whatever it takes to get the it done
- Be local to Bay area or intend to relocate here shortly

- Research and/or development experience in one or more following areas: information retrieval, machine learning, computational linguistics, data mining, search relevance
- An ability to juggle several projects at the same time and an initiative to actively drive them
- Experience in writing code (text parsing scripts are second nature to you)
- Comfort with SQL
- PhD or MS in Computer Science (or in process of receiving one)

Founding Engineer in Sunnyvale

Are you excited by a complex technical problem? The solution will enable easy and meaningful travel for millions of people. I'm looking for a founding engineer who wants to have enormous impact and reap the reward of early-stage equity.

You:
- You've tinkered enough with all sorts of web technologies (CSS, AJAX, Python, Ruby, LAMP, etc) to have something to brag about and be able to hit the ground running
- You have enough engineering depth (through either a CS degree or work experience) to be able to quickly grok web crawling, information retrieval, search quality, and machine learning
- You love solving complex problems and have enough patience and ingenuity to find practical solutions
- You are excited about building products from scratch
- You believe in the agile development principles: quick iterations, test-driven development, rapid prototyping
- You can work independently and do whatever it takes to get it done

Me:
- 6 startups, 4 of which were sold to companies such as eBay & Monster
- CS & MBA, MIT
- 10+ years of experience at CDnow, Amazon, eBay, and other companies in fields as diverse as e-commerce, digital music, e-government, online job search (and even a stint at Space Telescope Science Institute!)

The wireframes are complete, and design and front-end coding are underway, so you'll start working as soon as you join.
