Outside.in is the leading provider of hyperlocal news and information. We show consumers neighborhood news and information from local bloggers and mainstream media on hundreds of trusted news sites across the Outside.in Network as well as www.outside.in.
Role

Our mainstream media partner network is the fastest growing piece our business, and includes some of the biggest news sites in the country from CNN to Chicago Tribune to The New York Post to The Baltimore Sun among many others.

Taking care of our partners is a critical operation, and we need a bright, detail-oriented, enthusiastic intern to assist in our efforts to maintain a large and well-monitored network.

You’ll start by learning what our product is, who the major players in news media are, how local blogging feeds the network, and how we're changing new media landscape.

You are a young gun who demonstrates self-motivation. This position demands and will help cultivate a suite of skills that demonstrate you're more than comfortable with new media, internet technologies, large data sets and excel.

As an intern at Outside.in, you will work with your manager on division-specific tasks as well as have the opportunity to learn from upper level management across the company. Maybe they'll take you out to lunch and tell you about when they were interns, ask you to help prepare their next speech at a conference, or help you figure out how to apply your skills to a promising career. In addition, Outside.in interns have the opportunity to pursue projects of individual interest that they plan and execute together with help and insight from our team.

We're looking for a motivated, strategic, analytically focused, and energetic Business Development Intern to support the VP of Bus Dev to expand the Outside.in publisher network across the entire deal process. He/she will help in the following areas: outreach to select target partners, creating/refining pitch materials, research into new verticals and other partnership areas within online media, advertising, and social media. He/she will also lead a competitive analysis project to provide a comprehensive overview of who the current and potential competitors are for Outside.in and how we can win in the increasingly competitive hyperlocal space.

You should be a self-starter, a quick learner, familiar with online media trends (esp within the news/publisher industry) and have an interest in the online local market to research and learn the opportunities and challenges facing upstarts and established brands/publishers.
